Being a stunt double is a quite dangerous profession, many accidents and even deaths are reported every year. In fact, before the computer made special effects existed, film makers used camera tricks and models rather than people to cause those effects. Here is where stunt doubles or stunt performers became popular, as they were willing to take on the most dangerous scenes of the movies to bring that dose of reality and danger to the screen, sometimes even at the cost of their own lives.

These fights that we like to see in our favorite action or martial arts movies are artistic, but they have they share of reality, as in many cases contact does happen. In one of his movies, staff reported that after a stunt hit Bruce Lee harder than he was supposed to, in the next scene Bruce Lee decided to get even and kicked the stunt so hard that he went flying into four more stunts who were all injured.

In terms of stunts, beside physical stunts such as the ones that we mentioned before, there is also what we know a vehicular stunts. Including cars, planes, helicopters, buses, trucks that are usually adapted for the required stunt. Vehicular stunts can be as complex as to involve dozens of vehicles, crashes, jumps and intricate chases ending up in explosions. An expert in this area is Remy Julienne who is known as a pioneer in the automotive stunt coordinator and performer. Ian Walton is also a pioneer in terms of helicopter stunts who was really popular.
